Argus Camera Corp.

De Argus Camera Corp. Argus is an American maker of cameras and photographic products, founded in 1936 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Argus originated as a subsidiary of the International Radio Corporation (IRC), founded by Charles Verschoor. One of the famous camera's is the C3 also called the Brick. De company still exists. However they never made any exposure meter themselves.

Types of meter marketed by Argus:
L44, "Clip on meter" designed to be attached to the accessory shoe of the C4 camera, made in west Germany. There was also a booster cell type 604 available for this meter.
LC3, designed for use with the C3 Matchmatic camera, made in Japan.
LC-3, made for use with the C3 Matchmatic 'simplified' exposure system, made in Japan.
LM-3, for use with the Matchmatic M3 movie camera.
CM2, the CM2 'Coupled exposure meter' was designed to be used on the C33 and the C4R cameras. It was intended to integrate with the shutter speed selection dial.
SLR, the SLR light meter is a CdS coupled meter for the Argus SLR.
L3, the L3 type has been made in different versions, with a match needle pointer, without the L3 designation, with a black needle background and a white background. Also a booster cell is available for the L3.
Photar, The Photar is one of the oldest type of Argus meters. Also Argus sold an exstiction meter for some time.

The Argus L3 meter was not made by Argus but by Metrawatt. It actulay is a branded version of the Horvex 2 in a different color. Different versions of the same meter are made.
