Photopia is not a manufacturer but a trade company. The Photopia Group of companies was created by  Charles Gad Strasser and was founded around 1959. The company was transferred into Photopia International in 1962. In 1985 Johnson of Hendon acquired Photopia and merged into Johnson Photopia Ltd.

A number of products traded by the company: Alpex , Bauer, Erno, GePe, Kovac, Minette, Minolta, Miranda, Orion, Palar, Photopia (various own brand accessories)
, Plus (own brand accessories, compact cameras, slide projectors, cine), Plustron, Raynox, Regula, Sedic, Soligor, Wata and may others.

Today Johnsons Photopia is a provider of leading edge technology solutions for consumer electronics with a primary focus on imaging related products. The company is split into three separate divisions trading as JP Distribution, JP Service Solutions and Professional Imaging Solutions.
